1. The Most Fabulous Girl's Get-Away on Record:
Besides being blessed with my own wonderful sisters and mom, I am so fortunate to have the most fabulous in-laws on the face of the planet. They really do feel like sisters and a second mom.
The Wednesday through Saturday before Mother's Day, 4 of my 5 sister-in-law's (you were very missed, Kristi!!) and mother-in-law and I took a little getaway to a gorgeous resort in Park City that my sister-in-law Christy and her family hooked us up with. No kids allowed. :)
(Well, mostly no kids - my little niece, Maggie, is still nursing and came along, but she was a doll all weekend. She provided a good outlet for six women's pent-up motherly instincts. :))
It was a fabulous weekend filled with lots of crafting...
(Check out my totally sweet "Spring/Summer" blocks that now can fill the place of my existing "Fall/Snow" blocks (made by SIL Jenny) when the seasons change. I'm pretty proud that I made them since I am the most creatively challenged person on the planet and seriously lacking in the patience it usually takes to craft. :))
...and lots of talking, shopping, exploring, eating good food, staying up too late, sleeping in, hot-tubbing, playing games, and watching girly movies.
That weekend seriously feels like something out of a dream. Did it really actually happen? :) It was an incredible getaway (thanks to all of our great husbands for helping to make it possible!)- it was so fun to take a break from life, reawaken my creative side, be spontaneous, and get some quality time in with some of my favorite people. Can't wait until next year, ladies!
Elena and Lily were very happy with the "souvenirs" I brought back from my trip - $2.00 sunglasses and the coolest bubbles in the world from Gymboree.
2. Steroids. Boo.
3. My brother, Dallin, joined the Marines and headed out to bootcamp.
I can't even express how proud of him I am. Ever since he told all the family that he was joining, it just seemed like the perfect fit for him. No letters have arrived from bootcamp yet, but I'm sure his characteristic strength, drive, sense of humor, and strong will will help him make it through with flying colors.
4. Lily's first haircut.
As seems to be the case in our family, the mullet reigns. Well, tries to anyway. Lily had these darling little curls at the bottom of hers, which made it painful to cut. Now there are no more curls, but no mullet either.
Before
After (she wouldn't hold still, so this is as good as it gets)
(No worries - we didn't cut it to a point, it just curled up together like that. :) I promise she has a normal haircut.)
5. Playing the support role and helping Eric prep for a school related event (I'm being cryptic on purpose - more to follow on this later).
They say that when a married person gets a degree that it's really a team effort, right? Well, let's just say that I know more about a certain engineering subject than I ever wanted to know. :) It's been enjoyable expanding my horizons a little, though. I am really excited for Eric, but I will also be glad when this is all over. :)
There's some of our May so far! 2011 isn't slowing down any, it seems. :)

I love girl getaways. It sounds like such a blast. So glad you got to go. And I know all about that baby mullet thing!!!!! We had 4 of those at our house. She looks cute.
That girls getaway looks amazing! I want to get me one of those!
How wonderful! Wish we were all closer so all of us could get together!! That would be a real treat!
The pics of the girls are precious, as usual! Gosh, Elena is going to have to have a "trim" one of these days...has she started her final chemo? (I know it lasts for awhile, but keeping our fingers crossed & saying lots of prayers, in hopes that it will truly be the LAST chemo she has...EVER!!!)
We are so very, very proud of Dallin, he will do wonderfully & like I told your mom, perhaps this IS his mission!!
Hope Eric is safe & has a wonderful experience!! ;)) Give him HUGS for us! Love to all!
