I need some answers/ advice about a couple of things from those of you who have gone before...
1. I'm trying to transition Elena to dairy. And more specifically - trying to replace her bottles with a little bit of whole milk. We've been giving her a little bit of cheese each day and then a couple of nights ago I gave her about 2 ounces of warm whole milk before she went to bed. She gobbled it down, but the next day she had this red, bumpy rash around her mouth. She wasn't acting fussy or anything, but the rash was unusual and I can only assume that it came from the milk. So, I haven't given her anymore milk, but I have still given her cheese. Her mouth is better today. Any ideas? How do I properly transition her to milk? I've never read anything about how to do it and need some help since her doctor's appointment isn't for another week.
2. Since we've been trying to really push solids and transition away from bottles, Elena has had 50- 80% more "solid" diapers (if you catch my meaning). Seriously, the last two days she has had like four dirty diapers in an hour and a half to two hours. And they are all really, really solid. No runniness in them at all. Is that normal?
Thanks for the help!

Their bowels will change constantly until they are over one because of the transitions in food. So I wouldn't worry. But if you do, you could always talk to a nurse. As for the milk, maybe try it one more time to see if they rash comes back that way you know for sure it is the milk and not anything else that could have come in contact with her mouth (which could be plenty!) I would just call the doctor and explain the situation and see what they have to say about it.
i'm not sure... sophie transitioned to dairy easily... but she does get red rashes around her mouth sometimes but i think it's just from having food on her face all the live long day! and sophies, er, bowels, are generally pretty solid now that she's doesn't get so much liquid. good luck!
yeah... I don't know. Jo had no problems with milk... at first she thought it didn't taste so good... but no rashes or anything. And I would just say to make sure she's eating plenty of fruit to soften the bowels.
The second question...yup it's normal.
As for the milk....Never had problems, but I know lots of kids aren't good with dairy.
