Little Update on me/ Little Update on Elena

Thanks for all the help and offers to help! We are surrounded (literally and figuratively :)) by the best people. I'm feeling much better. I just have a cough left, but my head doesn't feel fuzzy anymore, the faucet- otherwise known as my nose- has turned off, I have more energy, and I feel like I can function again. I tell you what- every time I've gotten sick since becoming a mom, I think anew that my mom is a real live superhero. I don't remember her being incapacitated with a cold when I was growing up. Moms are pretty amazing creatures. When I grow up I want to be a good, tough mom. :)

Here's a little update on Elena, day 3 of DI: things are going very well so far. We are being tremendously blessed. It appears that her bad steroid/chemo side effects are holding out long enough for me to get back on top of life. She hasn't transformed into that unrecognizable, angry shell of herself. Well, maybe I should say marshmallow of herself, rather than shell. :) The bottom line is that she isn't all puffy yet, hasn't started eating us out of house and home, isn't irrationally angry and crazy, and is feeling pretty good still. She's a little more on edge than usual and slightly more whiny. And giving her her medicines is a super fight. But, overall nothing TOO bad. Although she started fading pretty hard this afternoon before nap time (I think the chemo's starting to catch up with her), I've been amazed that she still has so much energy in general. She's been very active - running, jumping, dancing, talking, etc.

It's still very early on and things will head south soon, but I feel so blessed that she's eased into it more this time. Especially with how down and out I've been this week. Prayers are heard and answered. Elena is such a strong little fighter.

Thanks for the update! I can't imagine how difficult that would be to be sick while dealing with everything else in your life, I'm glad you're feeling better. And I hope the awful side-effects hold off a little longer. You are brave and tough!!
