Celiac Sprue...Bri, your GGma had it...she didn't want to have it, so she just told herself that she didn't! ;) remember how very thin she was? Her Gastro doc did some testing & actually showed her the little "spurs" in her intestine that is supposed to "catch" the nutrients from food & get them into your body...hers were all "worn" off, and therefore, weren't giving her any nutrition. The reason she "didn't want" to have it was because she LOVED sandwiches...on good old wheat bread (cracked), and that was a no-no...she wasn't supposed to have the gluten...and gluten is in SO many foods! And, when she was diagnosed with it, she was having other problems, and we didn't push the issue...she just lived with it! I understand that you are going to have some testing done tomorrow? That is great! The doctor also recommended that she not drink whole milk...rather use Soy or something else...but she also loved her milk! Please inform the doctors that she had it, as well as, probably a lot of our family, in varying degrees...let us know what you find out...we love you & prayers are with you!!
Info from doctor - nothing conclusive. Lily didn't gain any weight as hoped, but she is being put back on regular foods to hopefully stimulate any auto-immune response for labs at primary's on Tuesday (conviently scheduled with our chemo.) Getting labs done for malnutrition, celiac, and systic fibrosis. (systic fibrosis is unlikely, since they are screened as newborns, but the doctor wanted to check.) The doc also told us they caught another luekemia kid (3rd old) and they were freaking out. He said they should only do that once in their entire career, and two in a few months was very rare, the PA caught both of us.
i came to say i googled celiac disease. please let us know the test results. it just doesn't seem right that little lily might have something wrong. you guys have more than enough. like you said, briana, DOWN WITH SICK KIDS! we will keep praying.
I had two friends with Celiac's and they are both doing well. They obviously have a very intense diet. I hope that is not what it is. I know my friends had some special Celiac cook books and stuff. This is just crazy that on top of the Leukemia you are having to deal with this. BLESS YOUR LITTLE FAMILY!!!!!

Mosiah 24:14-16
14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.
15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.
16 And it came to pass that so great was their faith and their patience that the voice of the Lord came unto them again, saying: Be of good comfort, for on the morrow I will deliver you out of bondage.

Pound of flesh refers to the pound Lily has lost since her 6 month checkup. 0-3 month clothes are getting baggy!

Eric: always loving to create some suspense!
On the positive side of things: all the meat & fresh fruits & vegies you could want! What about dairy?
I'll be anxious to hear the results of today's dr. visit.
One of my friends growing up has this. Never would have known except she got a special little cup during the sacrament.
Let us know!
I have some gluten free recipes--there are lots of things online!

As I said several times last night- unbelievable.
