30 Days, 30 Ways: Day 4 and 5

Well, we are a day late on Day 4, but you'll have to excuse us. I was all set to post last night, but then Elena decided that it would be much more fun to spend the night in the hospital instead of at home. So here we are - inpatient once again. Her ANC is 0 and she has a fever - neutropenic fever, you see. Other than that - raging ear infection, possible abscess in her neck/lymph node, and waiting to see if anything grows out in her blood cultures.

SO...

Day 4: Challenge - Help out children fighting their battles in the hospital (like Elena is right now!) and consider donating something to your local children's hospital's oncology floor (books, blanket, chapstick and lotion, art supplies, stuffed animal, games, play-doh, bubbles, etc.) or visiting a cancer kid you know in the hospital. Kind of like our "Day of Hope" project items, but on a smaller scale. You can drop by any size of a donation at your local children's hospital. They are always in needs of items for the children. If you'd rather not go find your local children's hospital or you don't have one close to you, you can always send any items to us and we'll be more than happy to drop them off at Primary's.

Day 5: Challenge - Change your Facebook profile picture to something supporting childhood cancer awareness for the rest of the month. It's a totally free and easier than easy thing you can do. You'd be surprised how much this can help to raise awareness - this really can be huge. Here are some good ones:

Do it for the 36 kids who will be diagnosed today. Do it for all our little cancer fighting friends. Do it for Elena!!

Hey and p.s.: we'd love to hear about the things you're doing this month (wearing gold, attending an event, changing your facebook profile pic, etc...)- tell us about it in a comment, in person, etc, etc. It does our hearts good!
