Today we're especially proud and mindful of Uncle Dallin, serving in the United States Marine Corps and our Bishop, currently deployed in Africa. Thanks to all the brave men and women who have served and are serving our country!

How does that work--having your Bishop deployed??
Amy: it's a very unique situation. :) From what I understand, our Stake President felt very, very strongly that he should stay Bishop through his deployment (6 months). They contacted our area authority for guidelines and pretty much were told there are no guidelines for this situation. :) So the stake president is working closely with the situation, the other members of the bishopric are stepping up to a lot of extra responsibilities and the bishop stays in close contact through e-mail, phone, skype, etc. They read a letter from him in Sacrament Meeting last week. He is an awesome bishop and it's sad to have him gone, but also an interesting learning and growing experience for the whole ward, too. So, there you go. :)
