I am officially obsessed with American Fork's show this year. It is incredible! The music is fun, the show concept is very creative, the talent and skill level is outstanding (as usual), and the show design is just brilliant. AF's directors just know how to write a show!
After the first time I saw their show, I came home and raved to Eric about it, downloaded the music, and then made him sit and listen to the music while I tried to describe the show, all the time lamenting that it would be another month until he could go to a competition and watch it himself. About two or three times during each following week, when I listened to the music, I would say things to him like, "Man, you've just got to see their show!" or "I can't wait until you see their show!" Finally, last Saturday, he saw it and was just as amazed as I was (well, pretty close :). We raved about it through the rest of the competition, on the drive home, and then when we got home, Eric told me to turn on the music and we listened to it several times over and reminisced about what we had seen.
See, it really is awesome. :)
So, for your viewing pleasure, I give you AF's 2009 show, Creepy Little World, set to the song, "Walking on Air", by Kerli.
Disclaimer: This video isn't their cleanest run ever and doesn't do the show justice - there is just NOTHING like seeing it in person. See it if you can! But, it is still pretty awesome! And fun for a junkie like me to watch over and over again and revel in the memories of the awesomeness of seeing it live. :)

I loved it! There are so many levels at which to look, I cannot possibly take everything in! I'm not sure how much I feel that the uniforms and the show/music/choreography "jive" though...I keep wondering why they chose to dress them the way they did....What do you think?

Amy: hmmm... well, I don't know how much of it is just personal taste and how much of it is the fact that you can't see things really well on this video.... I think for sure that everything looks much better in person - including the uniforms and choreography. So, I don't know, my personal opinion is that the uniforms work very well - the stark white hooded outfit and black and white stripe arm bands and leggings are a little disconcerting, while the pantaloons and tutus add that little bit of quaint, "little-girl", not quite of this world feel to things. So, I think they're capturing two sides of the music/story - 1. the "little creepy world" (where everything is a little off) and 2. this little girl that half of the song is spent describing. And in the beginning, before they put the tutus on (when they are doing the ballet section), I think the costumes are plain enough to work for that section, but also a little weird enough to seem not quite right for that music/style of dancing to make you wonder what is going on and what is coming next. I think they set the mood vwery well. In this video they are kind of hard to see, so maybe that is part of why you're not sure about them. But, then, maybe it's just my opinion. :)
The one thing that I wasn't sure of at first (and still am not quite) is the floor color choice. I think that blocks work very well with their staging choices and with the other patterns the have on the floor (vertical stripes in the one of the flags and stripes in their uniforms), but at first, I wondered about choosing blue and black and pink for the block colors. There could be several reasons for that: 1. they had a blue floor and were just trying to make it work without totally repainting the whole thing :), 2. those three colors together feel a little disconcerting - thus helping with the whole feel of the song, 3. something else that I don't know ;). But, I'm reconciled to it now and feel like it works. I don't know if it works the best or if something else would work better - I'm no expert. :) But, it must work pretty well because AF always sweeps their class and everyone is screaming their lungs out when watching their show. :)
So, the moral of the story is, you should come watch it in person at a competition, so that you can truly judge for yourself (and experience the awesomeness) :)
I actually liked the floor choice... I'm not so sure about some of their silk choices though...interesting to analyze! :) When are the shows that I could come see (close to here, and low in cost)?
